Hollywood movies are making nearly twice as much as they did just seven years ago, according to data from Box Office Mojo.
Box office revenues in March for the top-grossing movies climbed to $6.9 billion, up from $5.9bn in March 2017, according in the data.
Box office revenue was $6,092 million in March 2018, up $746 million from March 2017.
The numbers come as the market for movies in theaters continues to shrink, with some studios releasing fewer movies in 2017.
Warner Bros. released six movies in the last month, including “The Lego Batman Movie,” a movie that will have to earn $40 million to break even on the film’s $175 million budget.
The latest Warner Bros., Paramount and Disney releases in March were “Captain America: Civil War,” “Wonder Woman,” “Black Panther” and “The Muppets Most Wanted.”
The film is a tentpole, and the film will earn $140 million.
