Fallen, a Japanese feature film about a girl who returns to her hometown to live in a small town in the mountains of Japan, has been in the running for the 2019 Best Animated Feature Oscar nomination.
The story revolves around a girl named Sakura, who finds herself on the verge of her own demise after her father is found murdered and her mother has died.
She’s now left to fend for herself after her adoptive family, who were killed by the same bandits who attacked her parents, are taken over by the outlaws and their mysterious leader, Kanbaru.
She has to travel to the mountains to track down the bandits, who are using her as bait to lure people into the mountains in order to steal their precious treasure.
It’s been a tough year for Fallen.
It was announced earlier this year that producer Hirokazu Koreeda and director Yoshinori Kawashima would leave the studio after their contract expired in March 2019.
The news came as a shock to the studio, as Fallen was one of the first anime films to debut on streaming platforms, with a streaming release scheduled for this October.
However, after a lot of fan and producer feedback, Kawashama has been forced to step down from the project and the production team is back together to produce Fallen on a shoestring budget.
This is not the first time Kawashma has stepped down as director for a Fallen movie.
In fact, he previously stepped down from directing the upcoming Fallen: The Lost Legend.
However, Kawas was given a chance to rejoin the film once again with Kawashami taking over the helm of the film and the director being named acting director.
The Fallen director said that they wanted to create a film that would be like an animated film, one that was like an adventure story and one that would also be a story of friendship.
He also shared that he had no idea about what he was doing when he decided to take on this project.
The director said, “I was never told what I was going to do, I just decided to follow the story that was telling me.
I wanted to make a film where people would be able to connect with each other and see how people’s lives are affected by the bandits who are the cause of their deaths.”
Fallen is one of two Fallen movies that is set to release this year.
The other, Spring Awakening, will be released in November.
The director also shared some more details on the upcoming film.
Fallen will focus on a girl, Sakura, whose mother died when she was young, and her adoptive father, Kanbarau.
It will be a film about friendship and family.
The plot will center around Sakura’s father, who she grows to love and care for, but is also being targeted by bandits who have taken over his village.
The film will be directed by Yoshinari Kawashimaki and will be based on his manga of the same name.
The story will be told from Sakura’s point of view, with her mother’s story, Kan baru’s story and her father’s story.
The film will also focus on the role that Sakura’s friends play in the story.
The project is being produced by Kaze no Kanojo, the studio that made the live-action Fallen animated film series.
A series of two-and-a-half-minute shorts has been produced for the series to be released simultaneously on both platforms.
In addition, a series of four-minute video shorts will be produced to be distributed through various digital platforms.
In addition to Fallen and Spring Awakening , Kawashime is also producing the film Fallen no Tsubasa and Spring No Tsubara.
Kawashumi is also serving as executive producer on the two-part anime series.
He will be joined by veteran producer Masaharu Yamamoto on the other Fallen project.
The studio will also be producing two additional Fallen shorts.
