RTE has exclusively revealed that Power Rangers actor James Marsters has been cast in a film based on the popular anime franchise.
In the movie, which is being produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, Marsters plays the character of Professor Lightfoot.
Marsters is not returning for the series, and Abrams has said that he is not happy with his portrayal of Lightfoot and that he wants to see the character grow in his role.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Abrams said that the director was “sick of the character.”
“He’s got a lot of issues with that character and I wanted to give him a lot more time to grow as a character,” Abrams said.
“I wanted to see him grow as the character.
I think that’s a really interesting and powerful moment to tell.
It was a great opportunity to let him grow.”
In the latest Power Rangers, Marster plays Lightfoot, the lead Ranger in the team.
He is voiced by Jaden Smith, and the new film is being directed by Abrams.
